Our client is a world-class manufacturer of anti-vibration automotive components supplying rubber conventional and hydraulic mounts to the OEM market. They are looking for product engineer to design and improve soundproofing Polyurethane products for automotive application.  The candidate will have experience developing products from concept, through testing, to final production.  Soundproofing Urethane Foam design and development is desired.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Development of polyurethane products from prototype to mass-production.
  • Create design concepts and presentation to OEM customers.
  • NVH testing support, prepare test request and CAE analysis.
  • Negotiate design direction, DFMEA, QA documents, and DV test requirements with OEM customer.
  • Technical presentation to customers
  • Benchmarking of competitor products

Skills

  • Must have 3D-CAD experience. Catia or NX, 3+ years preferred.
  • Must have Automotive parts design experience, 3+ years preferred.
  • Product Development Tasks
    • CAD: 3D/2D creation by Catia V5
    • Product Validation: Develop and request lab testing, analyze and report results. Submit CAE analysis request.
    • Manufacturing: Knowledge on PUR molding, injection molding, metal stamping processes, and typical OEM processes.
  • Soundproofing design knowledge and experience preferred.
  • Metal/Resin component design experience preferred.
  • Very good customer interaction, presentation, and reporting skills preferred.

Education Requirements: Bachelor of Science in Engineering

Compensation Information: $75,000 – $80,000 plus full benefits

Summary

Project Manager, with 5 years automotive engineering experience, to be the primary contact with Ford Customer Engineering / Project Management Teams for NA and global projects.  Responsible for planning & evaluating project activities and managing new launch programs from development through production. Responsible for NVH products (engine mount, suspension bushings).  Controls Global programs communicating with client’s HQ and overseas plants in Brazil, Thailand, South Africa and Poland.  Troubleshoots and supports plant operations with high-level problem-solving skills.  Reports to the General Manager.

Role and Responsibilities

  1. Main Single Contact of Ford Product Engineer and STA (Supplier Technical Assistance) Engineer.
  • Full Scale Support for any customer issue from development through mass production.
  • Prepare project documentation for Ford, respond any request from customer.
  • Meet with customers to take detailed ordering briefs and clarify specific requirements.

 

  1. Managing new launch programs from development through Production
  • Develop project scopes and objectives, involving all responsibility.
  • Develop full scale project plans and implement all project tasks based on customer milestones.
  • Monitor progress and make adjustment as necessary to ensure project success.
  • Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques.
  • Coordinate internal resources and tier2 Suppliers/venders for flawless execution of projects.
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks.
  • Review drawing and propose drawing issue and will participate in the design and testing phases.
  • Control Prototype build schedule until delivery to customer.
  • Write reports on the project for management review and escalate to management as needed.
  1. Problem Solving
  • Support plant with high-level problem solving; prevent development issues prior to production.
  • Travel to production facilities; work with Manufacturing Engineers for best mfg practices.

 

  1. Cost improvements
  • Review drawing and propose VA idea, coordinate implementation of VA idea.
  • Create validation plan for VA idea and report based on customer specification.

Qualifications and Education Requirements

BS in Engineering with BSME preferred

Preferred Skills

  • 5 years automotive project management; prefer project management task with Ford, GM or FCA
  • Experience with various Manufacturing processes (Stamping, rubber curing, plastic injection) and materials (Plastics, rubber, Steel).
  • Understanding of Ford GPDS (Global Product Development System), APQP, PPAP, FMEA
  • Understanding of customer specification and validation (testing) process.
  • Understanding of key principles of drawing, GD&T (Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing) and BOM.
  • Understanding of Quality Control, VA/VE and D-FMEA/P-FMEA.
  • Advanced time management and analytical skills
  • Proficiency in the use of computers for word processing, Data base management and spread sheet (Excel), Microsoft project (Preferred)
  • Excellent customer-facing and internal communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills

Other

  • Willing to travel to Client Plant (USA, Mexico, Brazil and others), Client headquarter in Japan
  • Must be motivated, thorough, patient, willing to learn, and can work as a team with other multi-national team-mates.
  • Must have the ability to multi-task, have a sense of urgency and be able to stay professional in stressful situations.

Compensation

$80,000 – $85,000, plus full benefit
